The Seattle STEP Clinic
Rapid access to medications for opioid use disorder
Seattle STEP Clinic is a collaboration between three organizations, the Hepatitis Education Project (Harm Reduction), Country Doctor Community Health Centers (Medical), and Sound (Behavioral Health). We utilize an evidence-based, low-barrier approach to service delivery that centers the needs and goals of each client individually and provides wraparound services on-site.
- Seattle STEP Clinic hours are Tuesday – Thursday from 1 PM to 5 PM
- For new patients, please arrive by 3:30 PM
- For follow-up patients, please arrive by 4:30 PM
- Follow-up patients may choose to complete appointments by phone
Information for Clients & Providers
Here is a snapshot of the services Seattle STEP Clinic offers:
- Prescriptions for buprenorphine (Suboxone) or naltrexone (Vivitrol), generally provided on the first day
- Insurance enrollment assistance through the WA Healthcare Plan Finder
- Basic medical care such as treatment of skin infections, urinary tract infections, contraception
- Mental health and substance use disorder counseling
- Drug and Alcohol Evaluation/Assessment
- Other harm reduction services offered at Hepatitis Education Project
What does low barrier mean?
- Appointment times are scheduled but flexible; new patients can walk in without calling in advance
- Prescriptions for buprenorphine are generally provided on the first day
- Substance use and behavioral health counseling are offered but not required in order to obtain medication
- Urine drug tests showing the use of drugs/substances is not used to deny patients prescriptions
- Patients are never discharged from the program for missing an appointment
